Episode 13 - Create a Positive Money Mindset

Do you want to make a million dollars in commission every year? Do you want to know some habits, some tricks and some tools to set yourself apart from all of the other agents in your industry so that you are consistently making more money than you've ever dreamed of? Regardless of where you are in the world, this is the podcast for you.

Hey, Hey, million dollar agents. It's Sandra again, welcome to episode 13. I've got to stop saying the episode number because it's going to get annoying, but we are actually at 13, which. Pretty cool, because I was told that most people will only record seven episodes on average. And I was like, NO that is not going to happen.

I have got far too much to tell you and far too much to say, and I need to download that out of my head. So this particular episode, we're going to talk about your money blocks and your money mindset. Now people talk about money, mindset, like a catch word. Like it's a good thing, but your money mindset could be a bad thing as well.

It could be a negative money mindset,  which means you are stopping yourself, earning   the potential amount of income you should be earning. Of something you've been told something you could have been taught or something that you just believe to be right about money. And our subconscious minds are pretty powerful tools and they will get in your way if you have a negative money mindset.

So you need to start addressing the blocks that you have so that you can get away from that mindset and have a positive money mindset. So let's talk about money blocks. What do these look like? Well, I can give you some examples. You're going to have to work out your own ones though. Now, when I was a child, my parents didn't believe in investing in property.

They thought it was too risky. In fact, they didn't invest in anything. So. I always grew up thinking that you just made as much money as you can. You worked for yourself and you had a good time. Like my parents spoiled us rotten. We had an awesome childhood and that's all fine and dandy, but I had a money block that said you don't invest in anything.

You don't invest in shares or property or anything else. And. It was a real challenge for me to overcome that money block, because I grew up thinking that it was risky. So you may have a similar money block to that. Another money block that you may have is that you may have done something in your past that caused you to lose a lot of money or lose money.

And you feel like you should be punished for that. And it should be ongoing. Now that's a serious block for you to not achieve. Your goals because you are standing in your own way, get out of your own way. What happens in the past happened in the past. It's not your future. You don't need to be punished anymore.

You need to get through that block.  Another money block is that you could be terrified of bills and finances and dealing with your finances and  so they're all in disarray because you find it too traumatic to open that bill and deal with it.  It might come back to a childhood situation where your family may have fought over money, or your parents argued over money because there wasn't enough money.

And so when it comes to getting in control of your finances, it's. Traumatic for you to deal with that. So you've just left it in a big mess and you pay your bills late and you have no idea what's in the bank and you overspend and you really just don't know where you are at any point in time. Now this is really dangerous.

What I do, a little secret is I tell myself and tell the universe (and again a bit  Fru Fru ) but I tell the universe that I don't get bills. I get checks. I just keep saying that over and I don't get bills. I get checks. It's funny how it works, because at any point in time, I've only got a couple of bills to deal with.

I open the bills straight away. I look at it, I mark on the calendar when it has to get paid. I pay it the day before and it's out of my life and I just move on. Now. I'm not a financial planner. I'm not going to tell you how to do this, but if you are expecting bills all the time and they really get you down.

You are going to end up with a lot of bills because you're attracting that it's the energy that you're putting out. You're attracting that back. You're saying, oh, I hate getting bills or I don't want to get another bill, or because you're talking about getting bills, you will get bills and that's just the way the universe works.

It all comes down to your negative self talk. You need to change the dialogue in your head to, I can, rather than I can't, or I will, rather than I won't. Yeah, really flip your language around. So it's positive. If you say I can't afford something, you can bet your bottom dollar, literally, you can't afford it because you're not going to allow yourself to, if you say to yourself, I'm going to work out a way to afford it, or I will be able to afford it.

I can afford it. I'm going to afford it. I'm going to get that thing. You will work out a way your subconscious mind's going to kick in and it's going to find a way, so you need to start changing your terminology and you need to start changing the way you speak to yourself. Now, if you get that little voice inside your head and he's telling you, no, you can't.

No, you can't. No, you can't. You need to shut him down right now and say, I'm not listening to you anymore because yes, I can. I can achieve my goals. I will achieve my goals. There's no more negative. Talk to yourself. I think I've said this before in another podcast, I'm having a bit of dejavu, but if the person chatting to you in your, in your head was sitting beside you on the couch and talking to you.

If you just stopped and listened to that person, you would tell them to shut up. You would seriously think that person was an absolute lunatic. If they were looking at them and they were speaking to you the way you speak to yourself, you would think they were nuts and you'd walk. The negative talk that we say to ourselves is just awful and you wouldn't put it up with it from another person, but unless you're taking time out to calm your mind, I use meditation for this, but you need to breathe and just listen to that voice in your head and then start rewriting the script.

So that it's a positive script rather than any sort of negative. I can't, you're not good enough. You're not capable of making that sort of money. You want to start reprogramming your money mindset to so that you have a million dollar mindset. You want to open yourself up so that you can make as much money as you possibly can and be open to receive that.

That's the way it works. I'm going to say universe works, but I just don't want you to think I'm totally lost my mind because. You know, I am a professional and I do deal with business people. And I don't often talk like this. I'm talking to you because I think you need to hear this. If you've got a negative money mindset, you know, you, there's no point in listening to a podcast called million dollar commercial agent because you just won't get there.

You need to get out of your own way and make sure that you are open to this because it works. Trust me, I've tried it. I've tested it. It works 100%! So what's the best way to get around your blocks. Write them all down. Address them, have a burning ceremony, screw the paper up, throw it in the fire and burn it.

Get rid of your blocks. They don't own you. You can do anything. Anything is possible. So that's what you need to do. You need to write down everything, just get it all out there and write down everything that's got in your way in the past. Anything that your parents have told you, anything that you believe if you believe.

The most money you are possibly ever going to make is a hundred thousand dollars a year. That is exactly how much money you are going to make, because you're putting it out there. You're telling your subconscious mind that you're telling the universe that, and this is what's going to happen. You're going to make a hundred thousand dollars a year.

If you tell yourself that you want to make a hundred thousand dollars a month, you will make it happen if you get out of your own way. But the trick is to, this is you have to write the goals down that you want to achieve and write them down once a day, once a week, once a month, whatever you can, as much as you can.

They say millionaires, write down their goals once a day and billionaires, write them down twice a day. So get into the habit of goal setting and get into the habit of writing them down regularly. What I do is I've got a little black book, not that sort of black book, but a black book with the year on the front in gold 22.

And when I stop at the lights, I write goals down. And I know that sounds crazy, but what it does is it gets me back to the focus mode where I can think of who I should be calling. And I look at my goals. And I've got the date on there, so I can go back and check them. And it's usually the goals I want to achieve that month.

So it'll be anything from the amount of money I would like to make for the month to I want to finish my course by the end of the month to I need to make sure I drink eight glasses of water today, or, you know, every single day for the rest of the. Or, you know, just anything that I want to achieve, whether it's something  that, is a personal goal or whether it's a business goal, but write it down because it does.

Get you moving and it does send you in the right direction without the goals. You are, you are aimlessly bumbling your way through life. And I don't want you to do that. I want you to be successful and I want you to be successful in commercial real estate or in sales. If you're listening to this and you're not in commercial, it doesn't really matter.

This is kind of life stuff. This is applying to all of it. But as commercial agents, I know your earning potential is unlimited. , but if you don't stay on the right track, you'll end up being one of those agents that are in it for the wrong reasons. Now I'm not going to list those reasons on this podcast because I don't want to incriminate myself, but there are some agents that are just not in it for the money.

It's and this is why we're here. Isn't it. You wouldn't be listening to this podcast.  if that wasn't the case, because this industry it's fascinating, but it's also incredibly lucrative if you're doing the right thing. And that's what I want to teach. I want lots of ethical money making clever go getters who are going to come to me and say, help me.

I really love this industry. And I want to.  and the thing is you have to look at it like this, and it might sound like money, money, money, money, greed greed, greed, but don't look at it like that. The more money you make, the more money you've made your clients. And believe me, they are making way more money than us.

We're taking a, a clip of the ticket. I call it a slice of the pie, but they've got the rest of the pie. So you're doing your job and everybody wins. Everybody's winning and that's a good deal. And that's the absolute outcome you want to get?  so how else can we improve our money mindset? Well, look, it's been said that you become the accumulation of the five people you hang around with the most.

It, this doesn't mean ditch your lifetime school friends. This means you need to start hanging around with people that have positive money mindsets. Now your parents may not have this that's okay. They're still your parents. You can't not see them, but stop listening to them. Start talking to people that have the same agenda as you, you want to hang around with people that are go-getters and they talk in positive languages and they're not talking about being broke and they're not talking about, you know, not being able to afford anything.

You want to  step away from that or block that and start making friends and having mentors in your circle that you can follow and learn from people that are actually doing the right thing. And if you are receptive to it, you'll pick up on these people and negative people. Are not good for you long term for your life.

If you've got somebody negative in your life, get rid of them. Now that is harsh, but it's a reality because they will drag you down with them because they're not satisfied until you're as miserable as they are. So any negativity you need to block it from your life, step away from it. I've had to cull friendships because people have tried to take me down with them and I just really don't believe I deserve to be in.

Pool, that Cesspit,  I'm out. So you know what I'll do as much as I can for those people, but then I'm gone, I'm out and you need to do the same. You need to have a good hard look at who you're surrounding yourself with. And if it's bringing you down or you feel like you can't spread your wings express, just how you're feeling, tell them that you want to take over the world.

Then they're probably the wrong person for you as well. So, Just be really careful with that. You know, it,  is a, it's a life changing decision to have a positive money mindset. And if someone's going to stop you achieving your dreams and being your best self, then really you don't need that person in your life.

And it's a hard reality, but that's, that's really, that's the way it works. Unfortunately. So you want to get a mentor. You want to hang around with people with positive attitudes, people with good money mindsets and you want to absorb as much knowledge and as much of their good vibe as you can. And stop worrying about the Instagram influences.

You know, there's another thing I heard when I was listening to. Some motivational speeches this week. I can't even tell you which one, because I listened to a load of them, but it said that millionaires and billionaires never use the word hustle. They don't have the word hustle in their vocabulary. So stop looking for the hustle.

There's side hustles. There's all sorts of hustles, but stay away from the hustles. This is real stuff. This is where you are going to build your career with your experience. And positive attitude and your awesome money mindset. And you don't need to hustle to me. Hustle sounds like you are down a dirty alley and doing God knows what to make a, make a buck quick buck.

And yeah, hustle's not a pretty word. Lose the word hustle from your vocab and back to the Instagramers, stop comparing yourself to others. Nothing you see on Instagram or TikTok is real. It's all filtered out, tricked up music added. And you know, these people that are driving around in Ferraris and Lamborghini and all these sports cars, like some of that stuff is real.

Some of it's not, but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Get real. Like this is not. Through a filter. This is through a microphone and I'm being honest with you. And I'm talking directly to you. I want you to be a superstar salesperson, and I know you can do it if you've listened to my episodes and you've got this far, I know you are serious about this.

your money mindset. If you're looking on Instagram and you're comparing yourself to others, you're going to have a really rubbish. Mindset because you, you're not comparing yourself with reality, but you can make a lot of money and you can make as much money as you want without doing all of the things that the Instagrammers are doing.

That's all I'm saying. You want to trip up your mindset. So you've got an abundance mindset so that you've got an open mindset so that you've got opportunities coming to you. So let's do a little bit of a recap on today's podcast. So a money mindset can be a good one or a bad one. What you want is a good one.

You want a positive money mindset and how do we do this? We have to get rid of our money blocks. Anything you believe anything you've been taught? Anything that's in your subconscious mind about money. That's a negative. Attitude towards money. You need to get rid of those blocks. So how do we do this?

Write all your blocks down. Address them, screw up the paper, then burn it, get it out of your life. Forget it. That was in the past. Switch your negative self talk. Stop talking to yourself and telling you you can't do something. Switch your, the dialogue in your head. So it's ' I can afford it. I will afford it.

I'm going to do this. I can do. You need to get rid of that voice in your head. That's telling you, you can't do something and yeah, just stop listening to the Natter in your head, have a million dollar mindset and a million dollar little person in your head. Who's talking to you telling you, you are a million dollar agent.

Get out of your own way. Write down your goals. Every single. If you can't do it once a week, if you can't do it once a month, do it as much as you can. As I said before, millionaires write down their goals once a day, billionaires write down their goals twice a day. So you get into that habit. Don't forget you're in commercial real estate, or you're in sales at some capacity and you have unlimited earning potential.

The harder you work, the more money you're going to make. And the more money you make, the more money your clients make and everybody wins. And that's what we should be striving for a win-win situation for everybody.  Hang around positive people get rid rid of the negative Nellies in your life. They are not serving you.

Well, you need to start gravitating towards people that make you feel good, that you can be open and express what your dreams are and that they've got the same money mindset. They've got a positive money mindset, and it's going to rub off on you. Trust me, this works a treat. Get a mentor, find someone who's kicking goals, and who's got a really upbeat mindset.

Who's going to help you. And you can have a cup of coffee, buy them a cup of coffee once a week, sit down, pick their brains. And you will find you'll learn so much from these people, because it's just the small little tip bits and it's just the things that they do every single day. And it might be minute atomic, little changes that you need to make that could make all the difference.

And yeah. Reinvent the wheel. If somebody's already succeeding in a field that you want to be in like commercial latch onto that person and learn as much as you can stop worrying about the Instagrammers. Stop using the words, hustle, flip your vocabulary up and just get real. That's really the biggest tip I can give you today.
